Taking delivery of new state-of-the-art machinery at our Production Facility

Stewart-Buchanan Gauges has taken delivery of a new, state-of-the-art Quick Turn 200 CNC Turning Centre at our production facility at Kilsyth near Glasgow, Scotland. It is a significant investment for the firm and its arrival demonstrates our commitment to continue to invest in our manufacturing capabilities despite the uncertain times we are all currently experiencing.
The Quick Turn 200 CNC Turning Centre will increase our throughput and the overall accuracy of the small and medium-sized parts we produce.
The Quick Turn 200 CNC Turning Centre machine has advanced technology that will further improve our quality, flexibility, variety and productivity.

The Quick Turn 200 CNC Turning Centre machine has advanced technology that will further improve our quality, flexibility, variety and productivity. With a standard through-hole chuck package and MAZATROL programming that includes improved monitoring and diagnostics, this 3-axis machine efficiently processes a wide range of part sizes. Once operational, it will increase our throughput and the overall accuracy of the small and medium-sized parts we produce.

As part of the supply chain for the manufacture of equipment for the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, our production facility has been allowed to remain open during the coronavirus crisis. This has meant that our customers have experienced minimal disruption and benefited from reliable lead times despite the lockdown restrictions that have been in place in both Scotland and elsewhere. As lockdown eases, our ability to adapt to changing circumstances while continuing to invest in our capabilities means that customers will continue to enjoy excellent service from Stewart-Buchanan Gauges going forward.

Staying open and working safely during the COVID-19 outbreak

Staying open and working safely during the COVID-19 outbreak

Stewart-Buchanan Gauges is part of the supply chain for the NHS which means our production facility will remain open during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Our production facility in Scotland remains open during the coronavirus crisis. Stewart-Buchanan Gauges has been identified as a ‘key supplier’ as part of the supply chain for the manufacture of equipment for the National Health Service (NHS). This means that we are allowed to remain open and operational at this time despite the restrictions currently in place in the UK.

We’re eager to play our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and have taken a number of steps to comply with regulations and to protect our workforce and local community. Where possible, our staff are working from home, reducing the number of people that are in the office. We are observing social distancing rules in our factory and have altered shift patterns to provide the space required to meet Government guidelines. We will continue to monitor the situation to make sure we are meeting Government regulations.

For our customers, this means that we can continue to fulfil orders with minimal disruption during this very difficult time. Our factory remains well manned and equipped to deal with enquiries and supply what you need. For urgent requests, we ask that you get in touch with us directly to discuss your requirements before placing an order.

As an employee-owned company, the wellbeing and safety of our staff at Stewart-Buchanan Gauges is paramount and we’d like to thank our staff for adapting to the changes we have made. We’d also like to thank our customers for your continued support during these unprecedented times.

Investing in Quality with a new Co-ordinate Measuring Machine

Investing in Quality with a new Co-ordinate Measuring Machine

At Stewart-Buchanan Gauges, we are proud of the reputation we have for manufacturing products of the highest quality. Our dedication to quality means that we invest in the best and most up-to-date equipment and technology whenever possible.
The new Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is used to check the accuracy of the components we make against their original design.

That’s why we recently invested in a new Co-ordinate Measuring Machine to improve our internal quality control process. The new Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is used to check the accuracy of the components we make against their original design, particularly when we have created a bespoke product to a customer’s specific requirements.

The CMM machine works by measuring the geometry of a physical object using a mechanical probe. The probe can be manually controlled by an operator or computer controlled. It provides measurements that are accurate to within three microns – that’s just three-thousandths of a millimetre.

While we have other measurement tools and our own manual procedures to check components at different stages of the manufacturing process, our new machine provides even greater reassurance for customers that the valve or gauge products you receive from us meet your requirements and are ready to be used as soon as you get them.

Looking back on another successful ADIPEC exhibition

Looking back on another successful ADIPEC exhibition

We returned to Abu Dhabi in November for the annual ADIPEC conference and exhibition. The second largest oil and gas event in the world, the 2019 event was the largest in the event’s 35-year history with 155,000 energy professionals from 167 countries including government ministers, CEOs and policy makers.

The Stewart-Buchanan Gauges stand was busy once again and we were delighted to make many new connections as well as meet up with existing contacts. The feedback from visitors to our stand was fantastic. With over 98% of our valve and gauge products manufactured in-house, many liked the fact that we don’t use subcontractors as part of our production process. The greater control this gives us over the quality of our products and delivery times makes a difference for customers where timescales are important. The fact that we are employee-owned and invested in providing our customers with the best possible service was also a big selling point for us.

We produced a new corporate video for the event. It shows footage from our production floor and features many of our employees across the business. We showcased it on our stand, and it is now available on our website.
